Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has praised 16-year-old Cornelius Shimwaafeni as a hero after he rescued toddler twins from drowning in a pond at Omutundungu village in the Omusati region on Sunday. Shimwaafeni is also said to have saved two boys aged eight to ten who fell into a well last year.

Namibia has launched the Namibia for Life Project Finance for Permanence agreement, a funding initiative involving government, conservation organizations, and international partners including Germany's KfW and USAID, to secure stable long-term support for community conservancies. According to WWF Namibia, Namibia is the first country in Africa to successfully complete such a conservation financing deal.

Speaking at the AMDIN Conference in Windhoek, Ngurare said African leaders must be principled, strengthen institutional oversight and transparency, and reject self-enrichment through public office.
