A German-led research consortium is testing the HygO project at Kalahari Anib Lodge, a containerised system that treats wastewater on site and produces renewable energy through green hydrogen. The project, financed by Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment, is the first of its kind in Namibia and explores how wastewater, hydrogen, oxygen and renewable energy can operate in a closed loop for resource efficiency in water-scarce environments.
