ACC allocates N$100,000 for specialised consultancy services

  1. Otavi HR officer arrested for unlawful self-promotion

    The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Ernest Gaoab, a former Human Resource Officer at Otavi Town Council who was acting as CEO, for allegedly creating and promoting himself to a non-existent Manager position that was not on the approved organisational structure. He has been charged under the Anti-Corruption Act and granted bail of N$10,000, with his matter postponed to 12 May 2026.

  1. Three government officials charged with water tank corruption in Omaheke

    Three officials from the Ministry of Agriculture's rural water supply directorate were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly submitting fraudulent requisitions and diverting two 10,000-litre water tanks intended for communities in Omaheke to private individuals. The tanks have been recovered and the suspects were granted bail of N$10,000 each.

  1. ACC arrests three officials over diverted water tanks

    The Anti-Corruption Commission arrested three officials from the rural water supply directorate in the Omaheke region for allegedly distributing community water tanks via corrupt practices. The officials are accused of submitting fraudulent requisitions and diverting two 10,000-litre water tanks intended for communities to private individuals; the tanks have since been recovered and will be returned to regional government stores.

  2. Former Nipam marketing manager arrested for corruption

    Katoole Ipinge, a former marketing and communication manager at Namibia Institute for Public Administration and Management, has been arrested for allegedly diverting client funds to his personal bank account. According to the Anti-Corruption Commission, between June 2021 and December 2021, N$175,200 was deposited into his account, and he appeared in court on Friday and was granted bail of N$10,000.

  1. ACC arrests Ministry of Gender official over Harambee grant fraud

    The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested former Administrative Officer Kelenose Mbathera and his girlfriend Belinda Mbaindjikua in connection with alleged fraudulent disability grant applications. The pair allegedly solicited personal documents under the pretext of applying for vulnerable children's grants, then changed applications to disability grants without beneficiaries' knowledge and deposited funds into accounts belonging to the girlfriend.

  1. ACC arrests two NDF officers for corruption scheme

    The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Michael Nehemia and Fransiskus Ndatoolewe Sheehama of the Namibia Defence Force over a corrupt scheme between November 2019 and February 2020 that caused approximately N$179,508.91 in losses through fraudulent vehicle repair payments and inflated quotations. Both have been charged under the Anti-Corruption Act, with Nehemia granted bail of N$10,000 and Sheehama's court appearance pending, while three other linked suspects remain at large.

  1. Police officer and inmate charged in N$2,000 bribery case

    The Anti-Corruption Commission arrested Sergeant Victory Hafeni Vatileni of Ondangwa Police Station on corruption charges after he allegedly received N$2,000 from an inmate's brother and handed it to the inmate without recording it. The inmate, Fillemon Kadhikwa, was charged with offering the bribe to avoid fraud charges, and Vatileni was additionally charged with providing false information to ACC investigators.

  1. NBC denies plans to re-interview director general candidates

    The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has denied allegations that it intends to conduct re-interviews for the director general position, a role vacant since outgoing chief Stanley Similo's contract expired last year. NBC board chairperson Lazarus Jacobs said the recruitment process remains incomplete and that any claims about re-interviews are "speculation, innuendo and rumour mongering."

  1. Community liaison officer arrested for misusing poverty funds

    A Community Liaison Officer at the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Child Welfare in Eenhana was arrested for siphoning funds meant for vulnerable community members. She secured a Hammer Mill Machine valued at N$31,500 through the Income Generating Activities programme in 2007/2008 using her cousin's name, then operated a milling business with it for her own benefit instead of the intended purpose.
