    Three teachers from Tsaraxa-Aibes Primary School in Otjiwarongo died in a head-on collision on 19 March between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo after the driver of a sedan swerved to avoid guinea fowl. The deceased teachers—Veronika Hoaes, Aina Jonas, and Roseline Shikulo—were mourned at a community memorial service on Thursday, with families describing them as dedicated educators and devoted family members.

  1. Family learns of daughter's death from social media accident video

    The family of Diina Hamwaama (32), one of five people killed in a head-on motor accident between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo, discovered her death through a graphic video of the crash circulating on social media, six hours before police formally notified them. The family says they are traumatised by seeing her body in the video and are calling for respect for the dead and accountability from those who filmed and shared it.

  1. Three Otjiwarongo teachers feared dead in Okahandja crash

    Five people died in a head-on collision between a VW Polo and a Ford Ranger near Okahandja last Thursday; three teachers from Otjiwarongo are feared among the victims. The Polo's driver allegedly swerved to avoid guinea fowls, crossing into the oncoming lane, and all five occupants were burnt beyond recognition. The Ford Ranger's driver was rescued and admitted to hospital with serious injuries.

    Five people died in a collision between a grey sedan and a double cab bakkie on Thursday evening after the sedan swerved to avoid guinea fowls on the road.   1. Suspect arrested after death threats on Grootfontein prosecutor

    A 58-year-old Grootfontein resident has been arrested for assault by threatening and conspiracy to commit murder after Kristiana Erastus, a control prosecutor, received threatening notes warning her not to let an "Ondangwa incident repeat itself." The arrest follows the death on Saturday of Ondangwa state prosecutor Justine Shiweda, who was shot and had acid thrown at her during an attack in October 2025.

    A 25-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the right shoulder by his 21-year-old brother at Kap n Bou informal settlement after intervening to stop the younger brother from attacking their sister. The suspect was arrested on a murder charge and is expected to appear in court this week.

    A 24-year-old woman died instantly on Monday night in a collision between a minibus and a sedan on the Otjiwarongo–Okahandja B1 road, about 15 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo. The minibus driver lost control and the vehicle overturned several times; one other occupant was seriously injured.
