Namcor appoints Ndafyaalako as interim managing director

The National Petroleum Corporation has appointed Mtundeni Ndafyaalako as interim managing director effective 1 March, following the conclusion of former deputy finance minister Maureen Hinda-Mbuende's six-month tenure. Ndafyaalako, who joined Namcor in 2018 and currently serves as executive for upstream development and production, brings nearly two decades of oil and gas sector experience.

    Namcor has appointed Mtundeni Ndafyaalako, its upstream development and production executive, as acting managing director effective 1 March 2026, pending completion of the recruitment process for a permanent MD. Ndafyaalako succeeds Maureen Hinda-Mbuende, who served as interim head for six months.

  1. Trophimus Hiwilepo appointed MTC Board Chairperson

    The Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) has appointed Trophimus Hiwilepo as its new Board Chairperson from 13 February 2026, replacing the late Theofelus Mberirua. Hiwilepo, a non-executive director since July 2024, holds a degree from the University of the Western Cape and serves on other corporate boards including NAMCOR and Gondwana Collection.

  1. High Court dismisses State's bail appeal for Willemse

    A Windhoek High Court judge struck the State's application for leave to appeal against bail granted to former Namcor executive Cornelius Cedric Willemse, finding that the State had missed the deadline to file its heads of argument. The State, which had accused Willemse of facilitating fuel supply in breach of policy and receiving suspicious deposits, must now start the bail appeal process afresh.

  1. High Court strikes State's challenge to Willemse bail

    Judges Naomi Shivute and Dinah Usiku have struck an appeal by the State challenging bail granted to Cedric Willemse, former logistics and supply manager at Namcor, in the "Oilrot" case involving alleged fraud and irregular credit extensions at the state-owned petroleum corporation. The application was struck after the State Prosecutor failed to file substantive opposition within the required timeframe.

  1. Namcor fraud accused challenge selective evidence in bail appeal

    Six individuals charged with defrauding Namcor are appealing a magistrate's refusal of bail, with their legal representatives arguing that the magistrate selectively assessed evidence in favour of the investigation officer while overlooking material facts and the accused's own concessions. The appellants contend the magistrate failed to properly consider disputed issues including the strength of the state's case and individual circumstances of each accused.

  1. High-metal fuel imported to Namibia damaging modern vehicles

    Automotive industry representatives have warned that imported fuel entering Namibia since February 2024 may contain high metal content that damages modern cars, with repairs costing up to N$80 000. The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy, responsible for fuel quality, has not responded to questions, while Namcor says imported fuel met specifications at transfer but cannot account for downstream handling.

    The Anti-Corruption Commission arrested the mother of fugitive Victor Malima as its investigation into the Namcor corruption case expands. The arrest brings the number of suspects in the case to 13, and follows recent arrests including a former Bank Windhoek employee.

  1. Former Bank Windhoek employee arrested in Namcor fraud case

    Heidi Boois, a former Bank Windhoek employee, has been arrested as the 12th accused in investigations into approximately N$400 million in corruption and fraud at the Namibia Petroleum Corporation. She faces charges of forgery, uttering, fraud, and violations of the Financial Intelligence Act, Anti-Corruption Act, and Prevention of Organised Crime Act, allegedly involving forged signatures and unauthorized bank account transfers of N$3.3 million.
