Former Miss Universe contestants visit Namibian school for youth support

Former Miss Universe 1992 contestants, including Michelle McLean, concluded a reunion tour in Namibia with a visit to Michelle McLean Primary School in Otjomuise, celebrating education and youth empowerment initiatives. The event brought together 14 international titleholders to support efforts aimed at uplifting underprivileged youth through the Michelle McLean Children Trust.

    At least 91 parliamentarians have submitted asset and interest declarations as required under parliamentary standing rules, with MPs disclosing shareholdings in telecommunications, banking, and brewing companies, as well as residential and commercial properties across Namibia. Failure to comply with annual declaration requirements constitutes a breach of parliamentary rules and may result in referral to the Committee of Privileges for disciplinary measures including fines or formal reprimands.

  2. South African justice minister condemns killing of lawyer

    South Africa's justice minister Mmamoloko Kubayi condemned the fatal shooting of 35-year-old lawyer Chinette Gallichan in Johannesburg, calling it a direct threat to constitutional order. Gallichan, a legal practitioner at Sibanye-Stillwater involved in a labour dispute, was killed near the CCMA offices; authorities say the attack was targeted and no arrest has been made.

  1. Keetmanshoop Vocational Training Centre opens with 253 trainees

    Vice President Lucia Witbooi officially opened the N$127 million Keetmanshoop Vocational Training Centre, one of several regional centres run by the Namibia Training Authority. The centre, financed by an African Development Bank loan, has enrolled 253 trainees (101 women) in courses including solar installation, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and logistics.

    The Namibia Qualifications Authority has launched an Evaluation Automation System to replace its manual qualification evaluation process. Education Minister Sanet Steenkamp said the new digital platform will reduce processing times, provide real-time tracking for applicants, and improve accuracy and consistency.
