Man arrested for rape of his 16-year-old daughter

The News

A 34-year-old man from Onayena village was arrested after allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter on 8 March 2026. He was discovered in the act by housemates and was taken into police custody to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court.

  1. Bail application in magistrate murder case transferred to Ondangwa

    A Windhoek magistrate has transferred the bail application of two suspects charged with the murder of Ondangwa Prosecutor Justine Shiweda to the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court, rejecting defence requests to withdraw charges despite similar charges being pursued in Ondangwa. A third accused police officer facing graft charges will have his case separated and return to court in March 2026.

  1. Woman denied bail in love triangle assault case

    Hileni Ndjeke, 57, was remanded in custody and denied bail in Ondangwa Magistrate's Court after being accused of assaulting her husband's alleged girlfriend, Julia Katyati, who later died at hospital. Ndjeke is charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, though the State did not pursue murder charges as there is no evidence the assault caused the death.

  1. Ondangwa prosecutor killed after attacking case dies from injuries

    Justine Shiweda, 32, an Ondangwa Magistrate's Court control prosecutor, died in a Windhoek hospital a week ago from injuries sustained in an October attack in which she was shot and doused with corrosive substance in front of her children. Six suspects were arrested; her death has prompted legal fraternity calls for urgent changes to prosecutors' working conditions and safety, with officials noting this was the first killing of a prosecutor in Namibia for performing their duties.

  1. Slain prosecutor Justine Shiweda laid to rest with state honours

    Thousands gathered to pay respects to late Ondangwa regional control prosecutor Justine Ndapandula Shiweda, who died on 7 February 2026 from injuries sustained in a violent attack in October 2025. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and other state officials condemned the attack and pledged that violence against law enforcement will be met with the full force of the law, while a trust fund has been established to support Shiweda's two young children.

  1. Ondangwa prosecutor dies from October acid attack injuries

    Justine Shiweda, an Ondangwa control prosecutor, died on Saturday at age 31 from injuries sustained in a retaliatory acid and gun attack in October allegedly carried out by associates of a suspect whose bail she had refused. Suspects including former police officer Abner Mateus have been charged with murder, and legal officials have called for swift justice and heightened security for prosecutors.

  1. ACC arrests police officer and inmate on bribery charges

    The Anti-Corruption Commission arrested sergeant Victory Vatileni and inmate Fillemon Kadhikwa in January following an alleged 2023 bribery incident at Ondangwa Police Station, where Kadhikwa allegedly offered N$2,000 to avoid a fraud charge and Vatileni allegedly facilitated the transaction without recording it. Both were granted bail of N$2,000 each, and the case was postponed to 10 June for fixing a trial date.

  1. Police officer and inmate charged in N$2,000 bribery case

    The Anti-Corruption Commission arrested Sergeant Victory Hafeni Vatileni of Ondangwa Police Station on corruption charges after he allegedly received N$2,000 from an inmate's brother and handed it to the inmate without recording it. The inmate, Fillemon Kadhikwa, was charged with offering the bribe to avoid fraud charges, and Vatileni was additionally charged with providing false information to ACC investigators.

    Sam Pendapala Nepando, headman of Onelago village, was shot and killed on 2 January while attempting to resolve a land dispute with another village headman. He was laid to rest on Saturday, survived by his wife and five children, while the other headman remains hospitalized in stable condition.
