“Mpinge, a cleaner at Onandjokwe Hospital, has also been linked to Abner Mateus, who is accused of masterminding the attack on and shooting of Ondangwa control prosecutor Justine Shiweda in October last year, who subsequently died.”

“The court heard that Nuuyoma allegedly facilitated fraudulent payouts of approximately N$1.2 million linked to Claudia Martin, as well as a further N$69 000 allegedly linked to Abner Mateus, who is said to be the mastermind behind the attack on Shiweda.”

“Kangira said the state has evidence indicating Mateus financed the acquisition of the properties and that Shikwaya transported building materials from Windhoek to Oniipa for construction in the Oshikoto region.”

“Shikwaya said his uncle, Abner Mateus, a former Namibian police officer, used his bank account to carry out fraudulent activities without his knowledge.”

“Mateus, who is also alleged to be the mastermind, is accused of paying N$100 000 to those who attacked the prosecutor.”

“Mateus himself is accused of claiming N$125 000 following his alleged false hospitalisation at Onandjokwe State Hospital.”

“It is further alleged that it is during this window period that the alleged mastermind in the murder case of Shiweda, Abner Mateus, who is a police officer, made plans to conspire with other accused in the matter to draw up a plan to murder Shiweda, who had reportedly objected to his bail despite efforts to bribe her.”

“Shiweda was allegedly attacked after refusing to accept a bribe and granting bail to former police officer and alleged criminal gang leader Abner Mateus.”
