Union opposes on-road blood donations for truck drivers
The Namibia Revolutionary Transport and Manufacturing Union has rejected plans for truck drivers to donate blood while on the road, citing concerns about road safety and driver health. The union supports a new agreement between the Walvis Bay Corridor Group and the Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia to encourage voluntary donations in the transport sector, but says donations should not occur during work time without proper medical screening, recovery time, and schedule adjustments.
